Hospice ‘Rose for Remembrance’ service is Nov. 9 Minimize
Hospice ‘Rose for Remembrance’ service is Nov. 9

Family and friends will once again honor their deceased loved ones at “A Rose for Remembrance,” St. Francis Hospice’s interdenominational memorial service now in its 20th year. The event, held to observe National Hospice Month, begins at 7 p.m., Nov. 9, in the fifth floor conference rooms of the Weinberg Medical Pavilion at St. Francis Medical Center- Liliha

The service, which is free and open to the public, will remember and honor those who have died in the St. Francis Hospice program. Attendees may dedicate a rose to their loved ones. More than 50 dozen roses have been ordered. The flowers may be taken home for personal and family grief rituals.

Speakers at the service will include former State Sen. W. Buddy Soares and Paul Snipes, who both lost their spouses this year. Conducting the memorial service will be Father George Busto of St. Francis Hospice, the Rev. Shoji Matsumoto of Honpa Hongwanji, and the Rev. Lori Wong of Universal Life Church. Skylark will provide the music.

More than 1,000 die in the St. Francis Hospice’s two freestanding facilities and home care services every year. The memorial service is one of the activities the program offers to survivors. Other programs include educational letters, visits, counseling, support groups, and a walk in the mall program.

Parking will be validated. For more information about the memorial service, call St. Francis Hospice at 595-7566.
