Sacred Hearts welcomes priest from Indonesia

Hawaii’s Sacred Hearts Fathers recently welcomed for a two-year assignment the second priest of their order from Indonesia to serve in Hawaii.

Father Lusius Nimu joins his fellow Indonesian Father Benny Kosasih, who has been working in Hawaii for about a year.

Already the Hawaii Provincial has envisioned this new Indonesian priest to be a support and a companion for fellow Indonesian, Father Benny Kosasih, who has been alone in Hawaii for nearly a year. Both Indonesian priests are but one or two years apart in age and ordination.

Born in East Flores, Indonesia, the oldest of four children, Father Lusius entered the Sacred Hearts Congregation in 1993. He was ordained a priest in 2003 in Batam, Indonesia.

Since his ordination, Father Lusius has been working in Indonesia as an assistant parish priest, working with youth and in his order’s vocation apostolate. He spent seven months in Singapore learning English in preparation for his Hawaii assignment.
