New FCC established in Pahala Minimize
New FCC established in Pahala

A new Filipino Catholic Club has been born in Pahala, on the south east coast of the Big Island.

The officers of the newest unit of the Hawaii Council of Filipino Catholic Clubs were installed on Oct. 6 by Msgr. Thaddeus F. Mercado, the unit’s spiritual director and the newly elected spiritual director of the Hawaii council.

The installation was followed by an evening of fun and entertainment, thanks to the warm hospitality of the parishioners.

The Pahala Holy Rosary Filipino Catholic Club was established as a testament of the Filipino parishioners’ desire and eagerness to perpetuate the faith as a Catholic community bound by oneness of goal and unity of purpose.

Assisting in the effort were Donna Urban-Higuchi, president of the Diocesan Council of the Filipino Catholic Clubs; Merlyn Quintos, membership and organization chairperson of the Hawaii Council of Filipino Catholic Clubs; and Linda Villena, membership and organization chairperson at the diocesan level.

The new officers of the Pahala unit are president Joe Aglia, first vice president Sam Panglao, second vice president Doris Camba, recording/corresponding secretary Donata Aglia, treasurer Olive Corpuz, assistant treasurer Amelita Badua and auditor Emie Peralta.
