Dynamic speaker, talented musician and teller of humorous tales Jesse Manibusan will be the fall 2007 presenter in the Mackey Marianist Lecture Series, Oct. 28, 4-5:30 p.m., in the Mamiya Theatre on the Saint Louis/Chaminade campus.
The familiar presence at major diocesan conferences and youth rallies throughout the mainland, Manibusan’s presentation will be a concert titled “Open My Eyes: Act of Compassion in Our Backyard.”
Manibusan will also present a workshop on “The Multi Cultural Church” on Saturday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Mystical Rose Oratory on campus.
Both the concert and the workshop are open to the public. The concert is free. The workshop, which includes refreshments and a light lunch, costs $15 in advance and $20 at the door. For additional information, call Marianist Brother Dennis Schmitz at (808) 735-4801 or (808) 232-6691.
Manibusan has talked and performed at the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress, the National Catholic Youth conference, World Youth Day, Life Teen gatherings and other events.
He also conducts parish missions, retreats and youth liturgy workshops alone or with Ken Canedo. He holds a master’s degree in multicultural ministries from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, California. He has been to Hawaii before.
