Tiwanak named healthcare foundation board chairman

The St. Francis Healthcare Foundation of Hawaii this month named its former president, Eugene N. Tiwanak, as the chairman of its board of directors.

Tiwanak retired in January as chief foundation officer and president of the foundation. He is now president of Tiwanak Associates Hawaii, LLC, a management consulting company.

Also elected to the board were Sister of St. Francis William Marie Eleniki as president, and Msgr. Daniel Dever as secretary/treasurer. Sister William Marie has replaced Tiwanak as the foundation president.

Named to the board as directors for three-year terms were community volunteers Myrna Chun-Hoon and Helen Richardson, Hawaii Medical Center’s chief information officer Jerry Correa, attorney Chad Love, and Waianae community volunteer Albert Silva.

Re-elected to two-year terms were attorney Cynthia Farias, president of Hawaii Pacific Rim Frank Hata, and Sister of St. Francis Florence Remata of Immaculate Conception Parish in Lihue. Community volunteer Arlene Lum has been re-elected for a one-year term.

Sister of St. Francis Agnelle Ching, the chief executive officer of St. Francis Healthcare System, is an ex-officio member.

Established in 1984 as a subsidiary of St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii, St. Francis Healthcare Foundation raises funds, acquires and holds assets and provides community education, all in support of the activities of the healthcare system.
