Home-schoolers get together for eucharistic, Marian holy hour

Twenty-five Catholic home- schooled children gathered on Oct. 6 in the Pauline Books and Media Chapel in downtown Honolulu for an hour of prayer for peace and the families of the world.

The students sang hymns, listened to Scripture, recited the Rosary and joined in eucharistic adoration before the Blessed Sacrament in response to the annual invitation from Children of the Eucharist, the children’s movement of the World Apostolate of Fatima, to unite in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament for the world’s families.

Sister Margaret Timothy Sato, of the Daughters of St. Paul, taught the children about eucharistic adoration and Sister Kim-Nyan Bui, a Daughter of St. Paul novice, played the guitar as the children sang to Jesus.

The Daughters of St. Paul will continue a monthly eucharistic adoration and holy hour with Catholic home-schooled children every first Friday at 10:30 a.m.

The holy hour is a response to the message of Our Lady of Fatima which began with apparitions in 1916 to three children by an “angel of peace.” The angel taught the young visionaries eucharistic prayers as they viewed a chalice and host suspended in the air. This was the first children’s holy hour.

The motto for this month’s holy hour was “Gather the Children of the World, before the Tabernacles of the World, for the Families of the World.” The theme was “Mary, Queen of Families, Pray for Us.” October is the Month of the Rosary.

Those interested in joining the children’s eucharistic adoration and holy hour may contact Melissa Crisostomo at rolmelcrsstm @hawaiiantel.net or 626-2469.
