Vincentian priest from India to speak at St. Vincent de Paul convention here

Father Augustine Mundackatt, a Vincentian priest from Kerala India, will be the keynote speaker at the St. Vincent de Paul Western Region Meeting, June 23-25, at the Prince Kuhio Hotel in Waikiki.

The theme of the conference is “One Heart Woven of Many Strands.” It is being sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Hawaii and covers the societies from the western United States. Father Mundackatt, who is involved with the society in his native India, was chosen as a speaker because of the extensive relief effort of St. Vincent de Paul following last year’s destructive Indian Ocean Tsunami.

The convention will feature talks from other visiting speakers including the St. Vincent de Paul’s national president and others. About 250 members are expected to attend.
