Eighty administrators and pastors from Oahu’s Catholic schools and members of the Diocesan Board of Education gathered at St. Stephen Diocesan Center on Nov. 29 for the first Bishop’s Convocation on Catholic Education. Above, after Bishop Larry Silva’s speech, attendees reflect on two themes addressed by the bishop: the Catholic identity of Hawaii’s Catholic schools and the benefits of a more unified Catholic school system. Right, Bishop Silva talks with St. Joseph School, Waipahu, principal Beverly Sandobal at the meeting. Other islands will hold similar meetings throughout the coming year.
