Parish to host breast cancer awareness breakfast Minimize
Parish to host breast cancer awareness breakfast

A breakfast organized to increase breast cancer awareness among parishioners at St. Philomena Church in Salt Lake will be held in the parish hall, Sunday, Dec. 3, following 7 a.m. Mass. Everyone is welcome.

The cancer awareness program is the collaborative effort of St. Francis Parish Nurse/Community Outreach Program, St. Francis Medical Center/Cancer Screening and Education Program, St. Philomena Health Ministry, and HMSA.

The program encourages women to receive regular breast cancer screenings and to practice breast self-exams. The breakfast will provide an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer and to hear from breast cancer survivors.

Representatives from the St. Francis Cancer Screening and Education Program, Queen’s Women’s Health Center and Kapiolani Breast Center will answer questions from participants.

Door prizes round out the event.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women of all races and ethnicities in Hawaii.
