OBITUARY: BVM Sister Ange T. Cadigan

BVM Sister Ange T. Cadigan taught 8 years on Kauai

Sister Ange T. Cadigan, a Sister of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM), who taught at Holy Cross School on Kauai for eight years, died Aug. 7 at her order’s Caritas Center in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 92 and a religious sister for 73 years.

Sister Ange was born Nov. 16, 1917, in San Francisco and entered the BVM congregation on Sept. 8, 1936. She professed first vows on March 19, 1939, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1944, taking the religious name Julia Patrice.

She taught at Holy Cross School in Kalaheo, Kauai, from 1947 to 1955. She also taught elementary school in Cresco, Iowa, Sacramento, San Francisco and Daly City in California and was a teacher, superior and principal in Chicago, and Butte, Mont.

She is survived by her sister, M. Frances Vergano, nieces and nephews, and her BVM community. She was buried in Mount Carmel cemetery in Dubuque.
