Catholic Charities Hawaii announced July 12 that the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center, which provides exercise programs, recreational activities and social services for more than 2,000 senior citizens, reached its $150,000 fundraising goal, thanks to generous community support and that of several foundations.
The center is a program of Catholic Charities. The funding ensures continued services.
“We are so incredibly thankful for the community’s support,” said Catholic Charities president and CEO Jerry Rauckhorst in a news release.
The Lanakila Senior Center in Honolulu was built by the state in 1969 to provide services to Hawaii’s elderly community.
