BVM sister who served here marks 25 years

Sister Susan Marie Alconcher, a Sister of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary who served as an educator in Hawaii during the 1990s, will celebrate her 25th anniversary of religious life this summer.

Sister Susan Marie taught at St. Francis High School, Honolulu, from 1992 to 1993 and was the director of religious education at Maria Lanakila Church in Lahaina, Maui, from 1992 to 1998.

She has also been an educator and parish minister in Iowa, New York, California and New Mexico, and most recently in Cagayan, Philippines.

She is one of 26 golden and silver jubilarians of her order, more commonly know as the BVM Sisters, who will gather at Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, on July 22 for a liturgy of thanksgiving.
