Meet Jesus at the movies

Honolulu’s Pauline Books & Media is offering monthly film, munchies and chat nights

“Faith, fun and film.”

That’s how Pauline Books & Media is promoting a monthly film-viewing night it is calling “Meeting Jesus at the Movies.”

Why are they doing it? The pope said so. This program is a response to the message of the Pope Benedict XVI’s message for the 43rd World Communications Day issued last May, “New Technologies, New Relationships: Promoting a Culture of Respect, Dialogue and Friendships.”

So if you are free at 6 p.m. on the second Friday of every month, want to avoid the lines and the exorbitant price of movie tickets nowadays, and would like to watch movies in an intimate home-like setting in the company of cool people, check out the theater at the Pauline Books & Media at 1143 Bishop Street in Honolulu.

Refreshments will be served.

Pauline Books & Media is the ministry and retail outlet for Hawaii’s Daughters of St. Paul, an order of religious women.

“At Pauline Books & Media, we believe that experiencing movies together and talking about them through the lens of faith and values can give us a voice and create peace,” said Daughter of St Paul Sister Gioan Linh Nguyen.
