Holy Name Society luncheon helps Pregnancy Center
The Holy Name Society of Oahu annual luncheon to raise funds for the Pregnancy Problem Center of Aiea begins at 11 a.m., Jan. 30, at Tree Tops Restaurant, 3737 Manoa Road in Honolulu.
The cost is a $20 donation.
The Pregnancy Problem Center offers free pregnancy testing and counseling to women regardless of race, religion or ethnic background.
This year’s luncheon again honors the late Sacred Hearts Father Gerard Leicht, who was instrumental in helping mothers keep their babies or put them up for adoption.
This year’s speaker is Deacon Kin Borja, a well known pro-life advocate and friend of Bob Pearson and the late Bishop John J. Scanlan. Another guest is State Sen. Mike Gabbard, a proponent of family values.

Scrub Bucket Ministries sets Lenten retreat for women
Maxine Pollock’s Scrub Bucket Gospel Ministries will present a Women’s Lenten Contemplative Weekend, Feb. 19-21, at St. Stephen Diocesan Center. Local tour planned for Oberammergau, Medgujorje
Edward Lum of Providence Travel is organizing a trip from Hawaii to the famed passion play in Oberammergau, Germany, this fall. His tour will also go to Salzburg and Vienna, Austria, and then on to Slovania, Zagreb and Medjugorje, with a day trip to Dubrovnik.
The Oberammergau play features the citizens of that town and takes place only once every 10 years. The trip to Vienna includes VIP seating at a concert of Strauss waltzes by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
The tour leaves Honolulu on Sept. 16 and returns Oct. 1. It costs $4,899, plus airport taxes, and includes airfare, accommodations and two meals daily.
