EASTER MESSAGE

Father Thomas Gross, diocesan administrator

Dear Friends in Christ,

Christ is risen, Alleluia! May this Easter Season bring us great joy, hope and love as we give thanks to God for the gift of Jesus Christ, the assurance of resurrection and the promise of life eternal. At every Easter Mass we renew our baptismal promises, reminding ourselves that “through the Paschal Mystery we have been buried with Christ in baptism, so that we may rise with him to a new life. Now that we have completed our Lenten observance, let us renew the promises we made in baptism when we rejected Satan and his works, and promised to serve God faithfully in his holy Catholic Church.” We are called to live out this promise every day of our lives. Let us support each other, encourage each other, and affirm each other in fulfilling our baptismal promises.

As we celebrate the Easter Season together and look forward to the great feast of Pentecost, please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church in choosing a bishop for the Diocese of Honolulu. In the meantime, I hope we can all continue the ministry and mission of the Church in Hawaii that has continued to grow and develop so vibrantly since the time the first missionaries landed here so many years ago.

On a personal note, I want to offer my gratitude for the cooperation and encouragement of the clergy, religious and lay people of the Diocese during the past ten months. Let us continue to pray for each other.

With prayerful kind wishes, I remain,

Sincerely in Christ,

                                                                        (Very Rev.) Thomas L. Gross
