Kailua choir to perform Easter suite

The St. John Vianney Choir, instrumentalists and assembly, of Kailua, will perform “The Easter Suite” by composer Rob Mondoy, 6:30-7:15 p.m., on the Eve of Pentecost, May 30, in St. John Vianney Church in Kailua. The event is free. The work, a set of contemporary ballades about the five appearances of the risen Lord to his disciples, was last performed in 1985. It is part of a Paschal Mystery Concert Series celebrating the “joyful conclusion of Easter Season.”

Damien Aloha Week float planned

The Diocesan Youth and Young Adult Board is planning to put a float and marching unit in the 2009 Aloha Week Parade, Sept 26, in Honolulu to honor Blessed Damien de Veuster whom Pope Benedict XVI will canonize on Oct. 11 in Rome. Activities surrounding the project include a Father Damien, Mother Marianne, and Brother Joseph Dutton look-alike contest, and a float-making party on Sept 25. Contact your parish youth ministry for more information.
