Augustine Foundation collection is Feb. 19-20

The Augustine Educational Foundation, the tuition assistance organization for Hawaii Catholic school students, will hold its annual parish collection Feb. 19 and 20.

All the money collected will go directly toward elementary and high school scholarships for the 2005-06 school year.

Last year the foundation’s parish collection raised $100,000.

The foundation distributed a total of $402,500 in scholarships and teacher curriculum development grants in 2004. Four-hundred-and-two students received assistance. This year, the foundation expects more than 1,100 applicants.

The Augustine Foundation has distributed $2.7 million in tuition scholarships to 4,227students since it was established by the late Bishop Joseph A. Ferrario in 1984.
