Five new administrators take their places this year
Five Hawaii Catholic Schools will have new top administrators with the beginning of the 2006-07 school year. Some of the administrators are new to the islands, others are just moving from one Hawaii school to another, and one will head a school for the first time.

Educator Mary Jean Buza-Sims returns to her alma mater, St. Theresa School in Kekaha, from an administrative post in Washington state, to be the west Kauai school’s first lay principal.

Sister Eleonor Amante, a Sister of St. Paul of Chartres and a former Catholic school principal in the Philippines, arrived in the islands in June to be principal of St. Anthony School in Kalihi.

Sister Rose Miriam Schillinger, a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet, will be the new principal of Holy Trinity School in Kuliouou. The veteran island educator had been the principal of St. Patrick School in Kaimuki.

Daphne Kauhane moves up from being principal of St. Ann’s Model Schools in Kaneohe to be the Parish Director of Education, a position that oversees both the school and parish religious education. Victoria DeSilva will replace her as principal.

Sacred Hearts Sister Anne Clare De Costa, the former Parish Director of Education of St. Ann Parish in Kaneohe, will assume the same post, a newly created position, at St. Patrick School in Kaimuki.
