Sacred Hearts head a trustee for Natl. Coalition of Girls’ Schools

Betty White, Head of School for Sacred Hearts Academy, begins her second year appointment as a trustee for the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools. White, the only trustee from Hawaii, serves on the 15-member international board offering leadership and advice to the organization.

“Betty White is a major champion for girls’ schools and girls’ education in Hawaii,” said Whitney Ransome, executive director for the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools. “Her leadership in the key areas of financial literacy and science/technology for girls has helped bring new thinking to how girls can be educated.”

Ransome said that “Betty White’s perspective will be of significant value to the NCGS board of trustees as it continues to chart a course for its member schools.”

The National Coalition of Girls’ Schools is an association of girls’ independent and public, day and boarding schools across the United States, with affiliate partners in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

NCGS members share a commitment to the values and benefits of single-gender schools for girls, and a belief that all girls, regardless of educational setting, deserve the opportunity to realize their potential, to be active and equal, confident and competent leaders, participants and contributors.

Hawaii has two NCGS member schools: La Pietra-Hawaii School for Girls and Sacred Hearts Academy.
