St. Anthony Junior-Senior High School picked up Division II honors in the inaugural HMSA Kaimana Awards and Scholarship Program at a ceremony June 17 at the Koolau Golf Course.
St. Anthony was one of 10 high schools — representing each of the state’s five sports leagues — to receive $1,000 each. Schools competed on a point system that incorporated achievements in athletics, academics, sportsmanship and community service.
St. Anthony scored 380 points out of a possible 400, the second highest in the state, defeating Seabury Hall and Kamehameha Schools Maui in the Division II competition. Lahainaluna was the Maui Interscholastic League winner in Division I.
“We are pleased and thrilled St. Anthony was recognized,” said St. Anthony principal Wilson-Snyder. “There are a lot of people that share in the responsibility of winning. From our students and administration, to the faculty and staff, it was a team effort and it took everybody, including our parents, to win.”
The winning schools from the other leagues were Waiakea and Hawaii Prep from the Big Island Interscholastic Federation, Punahou and Hawaii Baptist from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, Kula from the Kauai Interscholastic Federation, and Mililani, Kahuku and Kailua from the Oahu Interscholastic Association.
