St. Anthony family pride
Edythe Campos, second from left, and daughters Pam, left, Debbie and Karen, speak about their history with St. Anthony Parish in Kailua at its 75th anniversary luau Aug. 10 on parish grounds. The Campos family donated the land three-quarters of a century ago on which Kailua’s first Catholic church and school were built. The first of eventually three church structures was dedicated on Jan. 22, 1933. Two long tents accommodated the hundreds of people gathered for the evening anniversary celebration that followed the 5 p.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop Larry Silva.
