Father DeCosta to direct Advent retreat at Our Lady of Keaau

Retired Father George DeCosta will direct an Advent retreat Dec. 1-3 at Our Lady of Keaau, a new spiritual and recreational center and latest addition to the St. Francis Healthcare System, located at 83-300 Farrington Highway in Makaha.

Father DeCosta will speak on peace and justice, incorporating Advent themes. The weekend will offer time for personal prayer, Taize meditation, small group sharing, spiritual direction, reconciliation and recreation. The cost of the weekend including meals is $75.

Housing options are available. The Makaha Sheraton Resort is offering double occupancy rooms for this event for $89 per night. Those willing to rough it can tent on the field at Keaau near restroom and shower facilities for $10 per person a night. You must provide your own tent. Anyone living in the vicinity is welcome to commute.

Check in time begins at 3 p.m. The retreat starts Friday with 6 p.m. dinner and ends on Sunday around noon. To make reservations, call Cathy Agor at 696-7255 or Nancy Conley at 523-1170. The deadline for payment is Nov. 24.
