It’s your special chance to visit Kalaupapa

Only a few open spots remain for special one-day pilgrimages to Kalaupapa, June 6, June 7 and June 8, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis.

The day-long visits to the Kalaupapa Peninsula, and the sites where Mother Marianne and Father Damien labored, commemorate the Franciscan Sisters’ 125th anniversary in Hawaii.

The pilgrimages, under the theme “In the Footsteps of Mother Marianne,” will stop by Bishop Home, St. Francis Church, St. Philomena Church, the grave sites of Father Damien and Mother Marianne, and other sites of interest.

Visitors will be given time to reflect upon the unique beauty and spiritual power of this isolated place.

All flights leave from Nui Air, 134 Nakolo Place, off Lagoon Drive. Parking is available. Call 833-1201 for information. Here is the flight schedule:

n   June 6: departs Honolulu at 7 a.m., returns at 3 p.m.
