12 parishes to receive new pastors, administrators

At least 12 Hawaii parishes will receive new pastors or administrators this summer. Two parishes will receive new associate pastors. Bishop Larry Silva announced the assignments in this issue of the Hawaii Catholic Herald. More appointments are expected.
Here are the assignments by parish:
- St. Catherine, Kapaa: Father Alberto Silagan is administrator effective immediately. He had been temporary administrator since April when he replaced Father Edgar Villanueva who became a military chaplain.
- St. Roch, Kahuku: Father Sydney Fernandes will be the full-time administrator starting July 1. He previously was administrator of both St. Roch Parish and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Waikane.
- Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Waikane: Capuchin Franciscan Father Paolo Kosaka will be the administrator starting July 1. Father Kosaka had been associate pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Pearl City.
- St. Benedict, Honaunau: Father Alfred Rebuldela will be pastor starting July 1. He replaces Father Lovell Soller, temporary administrator since March. Father Rebuldela is now pastor of St. George, Waimanalo.
- St. Philomena and Holy Family, Honolulu: Father Conrado Lomibao will be administrator starting July 1. He is now associate pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Honolulu. He replaces Msgr. Terrence Watanabe.
- St. Anthony, Laupahoehoe, and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Papaikou: Father Lovell Soller will be administrator starting July 1. He replaces Jesuit Father Michael Scully.
- St. George, Waimanalo: Jesuit Father Michael Scully will be administrator starting July 1, replacing Father Alfred Rebuldela who has been assigned to St. Benedict in Honaunau.
- St. Joseph, Makawao: La Salette Father Napoleon Andres will be pastor starting July 1. He replaces La Salette Father Santiago Ner who is the new pastor of St. Joseph, Waipahu. Father Andres is the present pastor of Holy Cross, Kalaheo, and St. Raphael, Koloa.
- St. Joseph, Waipahu: La Salette Father Santiago Ner will be pastor starting July 1. He is now pastor of St. Joseph, Makawao. He replaces La Salette Father Joven Junio who will be pastor of St. Christopher Parish in Moreno Valley, Calif.
- Holy Cross, Kalaheo, and St. Raphael, Koloa: La Salette Father Edison Pamintuan, who is now the associate pastor here will be pastor, and La Salette Father Noel Cruz will be associate pastor starting July 1. Father Cruz is new to the islands from the Philippines.
- Holy Spirit Parish, University of Hawaii-Manoa: Jesuit Father Russell Roide, campus minister of St. Ignatius High School in San Francisco, will be pastor and director of the University Catholic Center, Honolulu. Jesuit Father John Chandler, campus minister at Loyola Chicago’s Rome campus, returns to Hawaii to be associate pastor and the new superior of the Jesuit Fathers. Both start on July 31. The present pastor and Hawaii Jesuit superior Father Christopher Cartwright will take a position as campus minister at Santa Clara University in California. Father Donald Merrifield left in January for the Jesuit retirement home in Los Gatos, Calif.
