Catholic Charities receives $1.15 million from Dorothy Ring estate

Dorothy Ring, retired real estate agent, bequeathed $1.15 million of her estate to the non-profit organization

The Dorothy Ring estate gave Catholic Charities Hawaii $1.15 million, the agency announced Aug. 15. The undesignated bequest will go toward funding the operations of Catholic Charities’ 30 statewide service programs.

Retired real estate agent and community leader Dorothy Ring died in September 2005 at the age of 93. She was a Star of the Sea parishioner and a member of several Catholic organizations.

Her estate, valued at $2.1 million, was divided among family members, several Catholic organizations, Catholic Charities, and two non-profit organizations for at-risk and abused children. Catholic Charities was the largest beneficiary.
