Women sought to spiritually adopt priests, seminarians

In response to a directive coming from the Vatican, Easter Almuena and Esther Gefroh, both Catholic mothers in Hawaii, have formed a ministry of “mothers” to spiritually adopt priests and seminarians in the Diocese of Honolulu.

The ministry requires a desire and commitment to pray daily for a priest or seminarian appointed to a mother or a single woman. More than 100 women have already signed up.

Those who are interested may contact Esther Gefroh at estherjoeysmom@gmail.com, phone 538-3158; or Easter Almuena at easter4g@yahoo.com, phone 227-7309. For more information on the program, go to www.zenit.org /rssenglish-21253.

Judicial vicar offering workshop for RCIA leaders

Father Mark Gantley, the diocesan judicial, will offer a workshop for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) leaders, 9 a.m.-noon, May 3, at St. Stephen Diocesan Center, covering the canon law and marriage issues that frequently surface with people who wish to enter the Catholic Church.

Father Ganley will present practical information about annulments, when the Pauline Privilege can be invoked, and when convalidations are necessary.

Questions related to the validity of baptisms will also be discussed. To register for the workshop, e-mail mary_duddy @rcchawaii.org or call the Tribunal at 808-203-6766.
