Saturday service
Twenty Soroptimist members lent a helping hand staffing the Franciscan Adult Day Center in Manoa all day March 1, providing the meals, snacks, entertainment, activities and companionship for the 22 participants. The one-day service project allowed family caregivers to take their elder loved one to the center on a Saturday, when it is not normally open, and enjoy a day of respite. The center, in the back of St. Francis School, is a program of the Sisters of St. Francis and St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii, offers daily care to those with some form of dementia or memory loss. Soroptimist Saturday of Service is a region-wide event with projects in Hawaii, Guam and northern California.
