Young Ladies Institute official visits, chicken sale

When Young Ladies Institute district deputy Laverne Lei Chow made her official visit to Ana Malia Institute No. 208 on Jan. 28 at St. Ann Parish Center in Kaneohe, the officers greeted her in a circle, symbolic of a laurel wreath, signifying the golden links that bind the members together.

At her official visit to Kailua Institute No. 213 on Feb. 13 at the Lani Huli Senior Center in Kailua, officers expressed appreciation for her leadership by forming a heart, signifying the love that inspires members to help others.

Both institutes presented Chow with spiritual bouquets and roses.

The Kailua Institute will sell complete roast chicken dinners-for-two for its annual Easter sale, available for pickup on March 22 in the parish hall at St. Anthony Church in Kailua. The meal includes a roasted chicken, potatoes, stuffing and gravy. The cost is $20 and must be preordered by March 15.

Other goodies will be on sale, including pickled onions, Easter baskets, baked goods, chutney and more.

To order the chicken dinners, call Evelyn Cabral, 261-5210, or Laverne Chow 254-3387, or Betty Pedro, 262-9850.

The money goes to the seminary burse, their annual contribution to the education of local candidates for the priesthood.
