Vincent de Paul Society retreat to focus on poor

The St. Vincent de Paul Society will hold a 2-day spiritual retreat focused on helping the poor, March 29-30 at St. John Vianney Parish in Kailua. The retreat, called School of Charity, will be directed by Patricia Metric and last from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

The cost of the event is $20 to cover lunch each day and space is limited to 50 people.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society, which has three Oahu branches, serves the entire island and raises money for the needy. Its main doctrine is, “No work of charity is foreign to the Society.” Last year the organization distributed $50,000 in monetary support.

Third Order of Mary hosting recollection day

The Third Order of Mary is hosting a day of reflection at Star of the Sea Parish in Waialae-Kahala on Saturday, March 15.

Registration starts at 8:15 a.m. followed by the Rosary and Mass said by Third Order of Mary spiritual director, Blessed Sacrament Father Mark del Rosario.

Blessed Sacrament Father John Keenan will give a talk at 10:30 a.m., which will be followed by the Stations of the Cross and Divine Mercy chaplet. The event concludes at 12:25 p.m.
