Atherton Foundation gives Catholic Charities $500,000

The Atherton Family Foundation gave $500,000 to Catholic Charities Hawaii for its capital campaign for its new 2.2 acre campus in Honolulu’s Makiki district.

The grant will be used to help develop the facilities on the campus, the site of the former First Presbyterian Church at 1822 Keeaumoku Street.

“We greatly appreciate Atherton’s generous support to help us achieve this major milestone of consolidating and integrating our programs into one location on Oahu,” said Catholic Charities president and chief executive officer Jerry Rauckhorst in a news release.

Catholic Charities has more than 30 programs in Hawaii helping 40,000 people a year.

The Atherton Family Foundation is one of the largest endowed private resources in Hawaii that gives grants exclusively to charitable activities.
