Parishes give $25,000 to Human Development Campaign
Parishes in Hawaii donated $25,217.66 to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development collection taken Nov. 17-18, according to the “first printout” published by the campaign’s diocesan director, Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet Roselani Enomoto, in last week’s Diocese of Honolulu’s electronic newsletter.
The Campaign for Human Development, U.S. Bishops’ anti-poverty program, gives grants to community self-help groups across the country that fight poverty. Three quarters of the money goes to the national campaign; the rest is distributed by the local diocese. Approval for the next round of funding takes place in June.
These parish amounts have been received by the diocesan business office as of Dec. 14. Other parishes may have sent in contributions after that date.
