Chinese Catholic Ministry to celebrate New Year’s Mass Minimize
Chinese Catholic Ministry to celebrate New Year’s Mass

You don’t have to be Chinese to celebrate the 2008 Chinese New Year’s with the Honolulu Chinese Catholic Ministry, at 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 27 at Star of the Sea Church in Waialae-Kahala. All are welcome.

The liturgy will observe the annual festivity 12 days early, because the real Chinese New Year’s Day falls on Ash Wednesday this year, Feb. 7, said Kristine Wong, the secretary for the ministry.

The Star of the Sea Mass will also be a tribute to the ancestors of the Chinese community. Blessed Sacrament Father John Keenan will be the presider. A luncheon after the Mass in the parish cafeteria will have fireworks and a lion dance.

The Chinese Catholic Ministry is sponsoring a New Year’s Mini Bazaar fundraiser on the three final weekends of this month, Jan. 12-13, 19-20, after each Mass in the parish social hall lanai, and Jan. 27 in the cafeteria.

For more information, call Kristine Wong at 737-1818.
